Hollyhush is a free Secret Santa app that runs in your phone's browser. Nothing to install. One person creates the group and sends a link. Everyone joins by typing a name. Then you can chat with your Santa without names, post hints on a group wall, and guess who had you.
What the app does
- Invite link: the organizer names the group and shares one link in the group chat. Joining is a name and one tap.
- Anonymous chat: you can talk to the person you are giving to, and to your own Santa, without either side being named.
- Group wall: post hints, teases and bluffs that anyone can read and nobody can trace.
- Guess your Santa: lock in one guess each before the reveal. Right guesses win a score.
- TV mode: open /tv on a big screen and reveal the pairs one by one, then the scoreboard.
- Share card: after the reveal, each person gets a shareable image of who had them.
Does it work like an app on a phone?
Yes. Add Hollyhush to your home screen and it opens full screen with its own icon, and push notifications tell you when your Santa writes (iPhone needs Add to Home Screen first). Nothing is installed from an app store, so there is nothing to update and nothing for relatives to download.
Why a web app beats an app store app
A Secret Santa only works when everyone takes part. Every install step loses people. A link that opens in the browser they already use gets the whole family in, including the ones who still ignore app updates.
