Anonymous Secret Santa: chat without names

Want to ask "what size are you?" without giving yourself away? Hollyhush lets you chat with the person you are buying for, and with your own Santa, with no names shown. You can also post hints on a group wall and guess who had you before the reveal.

How the anonymity works

  1. You get two private chats: one with the person you are giving to, and one with your Santa. In each, the other side only sees "Your Santa" or the name of the person you drew, never who they are in the other direction.
  2. The group wall is open to everyone, and posts show as "Someone". The author is stored only for rate limits and moderation, and no screen or API shows it, not even to the organizer.
  3. Before the reveal, each person locks in one guess about who their Santa is. After the organizer starts the reveal, everyone sees the answers and a scoreboard.

Safety built in

  • Every message is checked for profanity, threats, links, phone numbers and shouting before it posts.
  • Anyone can report a message. Two reporters hide a wall post, and one is enough in a two-person chat.
  • "Hide this person" mutes one anonymous sender for you only.
  • The organizer can hide a post, pause the poster or remove a member, without learning who wrote anything.
  • Hard caps and rate limits stop spam, and groups delete themselves 60 days after the swap date.

Keep it kind

Anonymous works best with people who know each other: family, friends, a team. Keep groups to people you actually know, and keep the teasing the kind you would say out loud.

Frequently asked questions

Can the organizer see who wrote a message?

No. Authors are never shown to anyone in the group, organizer included. The organizer can hide posts and remove members.

Can my giftee tell who I am from the chat?

No. Your giftee sees "Your Santa". Only a guess you make yourself, or the reveal, shows who you are.

What if someone is unkind?

Report the message or hide that sender. Reported posts disappear after two reports, and the organizer can remove a member.

Does the chat need an account?

No. Each person has a private link that opens their page.
